Sore hooves result from many caUSes
Always consult a veterinarian whenever hoof irregularities occur. This is also true when a horse's walking behavior changes, like a more ginger step or favoritism to one leg or resistance to taking a stride altogether. Sore hooves can be an indication of an extremely serioUS condition. In the least, this health concern needs immediate and proper attention.
This condition can arise from cracked hooves, which can be quite painful in their own right. Corns, or bruises to the sensitive sole area, can reveal themselves in this manner. A hoof abscess, often caUSed by a corn or puncture wound, will show as soreness and even lameness. Laminitis, seedy toe and Navicular Syndrome are all contributors to obvioUS hoof pain and include a breakdown in the wall structure. ThrUSh and white line disease involve a bacterial or fungal infection and, among other indications, result in noticeable discomfort.
Improve prognosis for horse hoof disease
When a horse's health problem centers on its hooves, give nature a hand in the healing process with Equicast. From sore hooves to acute laminitis, horse hoof disease rears its head in many forms. Fortunately, when protection and support of the wall are necessary, a system like our ETSS is ideal in helping recovery occur in an effective and successful manner.
Properly allow cracked hooves to mend
Often called sand cracks, this condition is represented by vertical fissures in the hoof wall. They may be superficial or deep, even to the quick. Often painful to the horse, cracked hooves need proper treatment to heal effectively. The edges of a crack will not normally mend or close without assistance. Allowing new growth is the only way to naturally fill in the fissure. This is best done by employing our Equicast Temporary Support System, or ETSS. The cast, when applied correctly, supports and protects the wall structure while giving nature the time to grow new hoof tissue from the coronet. Of course, as with any horse hoof disease, contacting the veterinarian should be the first step upon discovery of cracks. Once diagnosed, our product should give the horse the time, protection and immobilization necessary for recovery. |
